The capital city of the Sharon region, Netanya is known as ‘Israel’s Riviera’ – a popular seaside town and tourist destination. It is also one of the fastest-growing cities in the Mercaz (central) area of Israel. Its diverse population, including immigrants from the UK, South Africa, France and the Former Soviet Union, gives Netanya a cosmopolitan flavor. The center of the city has been renovated and Netanya’s four major industrial parks are bustling with retail outlets and hi-tech companies.
There are plans to expand Netanya’s capacity to house 350,000 residents by 2020. There is new construction in the east of the city in Kiryat Hasharon, and also in Ir Yamim, the new coastal suburb located to the south of the city center near Ramat Poleg.
